A reinterpretation of John Dixon's The Oracle. In Guttenberg's version Father Time explaining the success of the American Revolution to four figures viewing the tea-tax image projected by a magic lantern. At the center of the print is a pot on a bed of burning tea tax stamps being fanned by a rooster (France). At the left British soldiers retreat as a serpent (America) springs from the tea pot after them. To the right the cap of liberty flies out of the tea pot into the outstretched hand of America (represented by a female Native American with feather headdress) who leads the victorious revolutionaries.

Two illustrations from Karl von Eckartshausen's book: Aufschlüsse zur Magie aus geprüften Erfahrungen über verborgene philosophische Wissenschaften und seltne Geheimnisse der Natur (B545). The first images shows two men out for a walk and in front of them there is a figure mysteriously projected on a wall, the second image shows the construction of a lantern that Eckartshausen could hide under his coat and then light with his cane and startle his friend with the projected image. Quite a wonderful trick.
