| Memoirs of BonaparteAnonymous Hand colored wood engraving Great Britain 1814 Image:4 1/2" x 3 1/4", page:14 1/2" x 10"
Anti-Napoleon broadside, with accounts of Napoleon, his family and his officers. There is a portrait of Napoleon, attributed originally to Johann Michael Voltz, a prominent German political cartoonist. His face is covered with naked women. On his uniform is drawn a simple map of the Confederation of the Rhine, a military alliance of German states founded by Napoleon, which collapsed in 1813 following his retreat from Moscow. The map locates the course of 3 rivers, Rhine, Elbe & Oder and the locations of 5 battles fought by Napoleon, at Lutzen, Katzbach, Culm, Leipzig and Erfurt, May - October 1813.
